How It Works

The Silver State Works program is implemented by EmployNV Business Hub to create an opportunity for employers to help strengthen Nevada's economy while receiving incentives to hire pre-screened, qualified workers to staff their businesses.  The success of the program depends greatly upon the partnership of employers with Nevada agencies — Business Leaders like you!

Together, we can build a trained workforce that enhances Nevada's economic stability and benefits participating employers.  We hope that you will take advantage of this program, and join us in building Nevada's economy.

To be eligible to participate, the employer must have:

  • A current Nevada Unemployment Insurance (UI) account in good standing.
  • A valid state business license and a city or county (if required) business license.
  • Open position(s) for full-time employment – 32 hours or more per week and pay at least $15 per hour.

And, in order to receive funding from the Silver State Works program, all businesses must first register as a Vendor with the State Controller’s Office: https://controller.nv.gov/
(Please note:  Processing can take up to 10 business days.)

Employers can receive up to $2,000 per employee in Financial Incentives or Training Allowances for new hires.

Choose Your Option

To ensure employers have the broadest range of choices, three (3) options are available:

    • Allows laid-off workers who qualify for UI benefits to simultaneously receive on-site workplace training and regular UI benefits.  This is also available to other targeted populations.
    • Provides a special training allowance up to a maximum of $599.
    • Job seekers would be required to train 24 hours per week, for up to six weeks, while continuing their regular work search.

Business Solutions Account Managers in the EmployNV Business Hub offices will be responsible for developing training sites and completion of all the forms for the employer and the participant.

There is no cost to the employer!

    • Employers enter into a contract that establishes the agreed wage, number of hours to master the tasks, and the maximum amount of reimbursement based on the wage paid.
    • Employers will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 50% of the participant’s initial agreed upon gross wage for the contract period (maximum of 40 hours per week).
    • Contract length will be based on the time estimated to complete the needed training.

Employers receive reimbursement after submitting a monthly timesheet / invoice / progress report.

    • This option supports employers who hire and retain eligible individuals in full-time employment (32 hours or more per week) by providing a wage and training subsidy based on the total amount of time that the individual remains actively employed for a maximum of four months and up to $2000.

Upon completion and satisfaction of certain requirements, the employer may receive a wage retention supplement – up to $500 after each 30 days of successful employment, up to 120 days.
